Ada Lovelace, daughter of the poet Byron, lived a brief but full life, ended by illness in 1852 when she was just 36. By then she had made her own contribution to history as a pioneer in which field?
A) Aviation B) Computer programming ü C) Philosophy D) Telephony
Ada was raised by her mother, who left Byron when her daughter was still an infant. Ada’s brilliant mind was drawn to science and mathematics, and in 1834 she became involved in the work of Charles Babbage, who was then attempting to design and construct a new kind of mechanical computer, called the Analytical Engine. Ada helped Babbage with critiques and feedback in a collaboration that lasted the rest of her life. One of her particular contributions was a proposed method for using the Analytical Engine to calculate Bernoulli numbers, which are of interest in many areas of mathematics. That proposal is now generally regarded as the first computer program.
