1. How’s that?

The first official international cricket match was held in 1844. Which were the participating countries?

A) Afghanistan and India
B) Australia and England
C) Canada and the United States ü
D) Ireland and Scotland

The first recognized international match was held on September 24 and 25 at the St. George’s Club in New York, for a prize of $1000. Somewhere between five and twenty thousand spectators were on hand, and thousands of dollars worth of side bets were made. The Canadians won the game by 145 runs to 122. An opening batsman for the USA was absent for the second innings, not arriving until the game was over, arousing suspicions that he may have bet against his own team.
