4. Head man

In A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which character’s head is transformed into that of an ass?

A) Francis Flute the bellows-mender
B) Nick Bottom the weaver ü
C) Peter Quince the carpenter
D) Tom Snout the tinker

The artisans, along with their fellows Snug the joiner and Robin Starveling the tailor, have met in the forest outside Athens on Midsummer’s Night to rehearse a play in honor of the Duke’s coming marriage. Bottom falls asleep, and while still unconscious is visited by the mischievous sprite Puck, who works the transformation upon him. The subsequent scene, in which Bottom is wooed by the fairy queen Titania — herself under a love-spell — is one of Shakespeare’s best-known.
