Thanks to the efforts of certain businesses, Valentine’s Day has been popular in Japan since the 1950s. It is now customarily celebrated by:
A) Exchanging body grooming products and scents B) Extravagant meals at special “love diners” C) Men giving electronic products to women D) Women giving chocolate to men ü
An executive of a chocolate company brought the idea of giving chocolate on Valentine’s Day to Japan from Europe, but somehow gathered that by tradition only women gave Valentine’s Day gifts. A Japanese woman will give small gifts of chocolate to the men she knows, and a special chocolate gift to her sweetheart. This creates an obligation on the man’s part, so on March 14, known as “White Day”, men can return the favor by giving cookies, candy or white chocolate.
